As seen in Retro Gamer magazine!

Steel Hunter was given a shout out in Retro Gamer magazine issue #262 along with other great PICO-8 games, Stickyfoot and Tiny Hawk Pico Skater. Thanks to RG for continuing to promote homebrew projects for all the classic consoles and beyond! Get the details

Can you take down the entire fleet?

The enemy has established a naval blockade and you're the only one that can open up supply lines. Use your mini-sub to destroy enemy ships and clear the blockade. Success will depend on a steady hand and perfect timing. There are also reports of an experimental enemy sub, so beware!

  • Navigate tricky minefields
  • Tense periscope action!
  • Avoid depth charges raining from above
  • Damn the torpedoes!
  • Top secret submarine boss fight

PICO-8 Owners: Type LOAD #STEELHUNTER on the commandline to load and play Steel Hunter easily, or search "steel hunter" within Splore.

Controls

  • D-Pad/Arrows - Move your sub
  • Z or B button - Shoot torpedo
  • X or A button - Drop torpedo
  • P - Pause (toggle music)

Special thanks to Ed Fries. His Atari game "Sea Chase" from 1983 inspired the first level of this game and I built on top of that.
